    The IETF 126 Vienna meeting takes place 18–24 July 2026. As at every IETF meeting, alongside the established Working Groups there will be a handful of Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions—and these are often the most interesting place to watch where Internet standards work is heading next.

    Martine Sophie Lenders has been regularly participating in the IETF for over a decade, starting with the IETF 93 meeting in Prague in 2015. She has authored several Internet-Drafts—two of which recently were published as RFCs—and at the same time works on a PhD at FU Berlin and as a research associate at TU Dresden. Submit Birds of a Feather session proposals for IETF 118

Now's the time to submit Birds of a Feather session (BOFs) ideas for the IETF 118 meeting 4-10 November 2023, with proposals due by 8 September.

BOFs are just one of a number of ways of bringing ideas for new work to the attention of the IETF community. While BOFs are usually held at IETF meetings, requests to hold a BOF must be made significantly in advance of the meeting. Preliminary proposals for Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) sessions for the upcoming IETF 118 Prague meeting are due by 8 September 2023.

If a proposal needs further work, the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) and Internet Architecture Board (IAB) will work with BOF proponents on revisions, but the initial proposal needs to be received by 8 September 2023.
