Adrian Farrel, Routing AreaAdrian Farrel has almost 20 years' experience developing routing and signalling software, working first at the British software house Data Connection, and then at US-based optical start-up Movaz Networks. He has spent the last 7 years running Old Dog Consulting, advising his customers about Internet routing and signalling with an emphasis on MPLS and GMPLS, and in 2005 he founded Aria Networks, a leading manufacturer of network planning software.

Within the IETF, Adrian was co-chair of the CCAMP working group (responsible for GMPLS), the Layer One VPN working group, and the Path Computation Entity working group. He became one of two Routing Area Directors in March 2009, and continues to serve as the IETF's liaison to the ITU-T on the optical control plane. Adrian is funded in his role as Routing AD by Juniper Networks.

Adrian is the author or editor of 5 books on Internet protocols, and speaks at many conferences on the subjects of MPLS, GMPLS, and path computation.
