DNS Directorate
The IETF DNS Directorate's primary mission is to advise the INT and OPS
ADs. In addition it will support the ADs by:
- Performing doc review on request from ADs. ADs will ask the dns-dir for
a review of specific documents for DNS issues. Anyone on the directorate may
volunteer for review in response, however one person will be responsible for
obtaining at least two reviews from a list of reviewers that may extend beyond
the dnsdir membership.
- Advising on the overall strategic direction of DNS.
- Providing outreach to WGs to detect where DNS issues may arise. e.g., cross-fertilizing
to other WGs in areas where you might not otherwise
hang out, and "speaking at the mic," posting to a list, or alerting
the dns-dir/ADs when DNS comes up (particularly in a questionable manner)
- Being an outlet for the ID early warning system response which Olafur has
been running
- Acting as a body for asking questions and providing advice when people
approach the IESG for DNS clue.
