A minor point of order or style: I get formal when I'm trying to
avoid unintended insults.
Yes, this message is also noise. My excuse is that I really think
that getting formal is sometimes good and necessary. When you can't
seem to avoid someone's name and are having a "mutual regard" problem,
you usually add insult by being informal.
