Considering the companies involved and their business models (MSN,
Hotmail, Yahoo, etc), I guess their eagerness to adopt as negative, and
the chilling factor that reticence would add to adoption velocity as
noticeable.  You're dealing with significantly higher operational costs
for a business with a very slim profit percentage.
