Not to pick on anyone in particular, but an in-reply-to is useful ...
acquisition of addresses (e.g., harvesting, sale)
acquisition of delivery platforms (e.g., robo-hosts)
acquisition of address blocks (e.g., /24 blocks)
acquisition of journaling devices (1x1 gif references)
...
None of these puts a byte in an inbox, yet.
