I thought this is suppose to be a serious forum with serious debate. Worst
yet, it wasn't even that funny.
I realize that people are notoriously lazy in applying patches, but
realistically we should expect to see the majority of WinXP computers in the
world to be running SP2 within 1 year. Actually, one of the best things
I've seen accellerate this was a DSL provider. SBC here in the Sillicon
Valley had actually implemented an automated worm detection and quaranteen
mechanism. I made the mistake over a year ago of trying to perform a
security audit on my work network from home via DSL. The ISP instantly
locked me out and redirected me to a patching center because my
vulnerability assessment tool triggered SBC's IDS. I was both bumbed and
pleasantly surprised. I hope all ISPs implement this, and it may come to
that some day.
