Why not just block their ip block?
It's not at all obvious to me that "xyz.com is a lot broader than just
an ip address..." (well, let me extend that to addresses.)
I'll agree on one thing:
If I never wanted to see another piece of mail from Microsoft or any
of their close affiliates I could use their Sender ID record to make
that filter more accurate.
I am not so sure about determined criminals willing to use infected
zombie PCs by the millions, however.
