Re: [Asrg] Re: Anti-spam laws do work, FYI. There's proof.
Enough already on this thread!
Most people in the SPF world don't even claim it will resolve spam at all,
which is odd to me, but most claim they are trying to get rid of people
using their email addresses as the forged sender. That is an ugly problem
since I hate getting bounces that contains viruses or spam knowing that some
people are getting this garbage that appears to come from me.
That said, I won't be able to use my computer.org email address if this all
goes into effect because I SEND using this email address using a variety of
systems, including those at home and at work in which I have limited control
over the MTA, but neither are owners of that domain, and it's guaranteed
IEEE Computer won't be putting an SPF record saying that I can send out
email on behalf of computer.org! Years ago, I could use it with any ISP,
but most block that now because they want to promote their ISP domains, even
if they claim it was to reduce spam. Seeing that fix didn't slow spam at
all, I guess it was like an SPF fix, resolving one problem, but not
resolving the spam problem which is the bigger issue for most people,
especially since much spam includes phishing and virus attacks.
