Analogous to privacy (particularly in the physical world), spammers
are turning reliable e-mail into a rather expensive, luxury product.
That's how criminality corrupts, beyond its immediate effect. It
changes our behavior and our options.
If you want to receive every mail message you desire and none you
don't desire you can get a private Tier-1 network connection,
sufficient server capacity to handle anything that is thrown at it,
and a staff to sort through that mail winnowing it down to exactly and
only what you want.
That still may have flaws since senders may have limits imposed out of
your control.
But beyond splitting hairs I think that's where we're headed.
It's turning the traditional image of information haves and have-nots
on its head; information have nots are the ones with too much
information, who can't afford to focus it well.
