Re: [Asrg] Anti-spam laws do work, FYI. There's proof.

Yes, but you can count on this: if Scott said it, it must be stupid.

Although there's no doubt something satisfying about laying this at
the feet of the ISPs (not the spammers, yours)...

You forget: I *am* one. Unlike you, one specifically oriented toward free speech...

unlike spammers
they'll answer their phone and email and might be influencible, the
spammers already took what you want away from you. You're a casualty,
get over it, there's no putting the car bomb back in the car. AOL
brags about blocking a billion or more msgs per day, etc.

And we receive hundreds of bogus spam reports a day via AOL -- list posts that someone's finger slipped on, dumfuks who think it's the right way to unsubscribe from a list or show their displeasure with the content, etc.

But, to use another McNealy quote (not for any particular reason other
than it seems to fit), it's the "one throat to choke" attitude, or
more specifically, choke the throat you can reach, maybe you'll get
what you want.

Again: quote a moron, see what you get.

Well, it's one of the things we give our users: a commitment to deliver every piece of mail addressed to them other than viruses (unless they ask to receive those too), and let them filter whatever they wish.
