They needn't require confirmation. It might be better to send a notification, including a mechanism for restoring subscription. Also including, if necessary, a mechanism for getting delivery of any email messages that have been missed in the mean time.

Given tight MUA/MTA integration, the button could cause a
check for mailing list headers and when found, issue a 550 at the
inbound border when further messages come from that mailing list
server for the particular user.
