 The AAC codec is designed to basically deal with a lot of channel
 configurations.

 I haven't tested many mpeg4 players about 5.1 yet. For instance Envivio
 player current release can't do that but we are doing 5.1 internally as
 a demo. I hope we get it out soon.

 To get more info on AAC you can go to http://www.audiocoding.com that
 holds quite a few links about AAC.
