Re: [AVT] Packet Interval at RFC2833

Catching up with 2833 issues...

Hi all,

In the RFC2833 (and bis) it is written:

"An audio source SHOULD start transmitting event packets as soon as it

recognizes an event and every 50 ms thereafter or the packet interval

for the audio codec used for this session, if known."

What is the Packet Interval for the audio codec means? Is it the RTP
codec interval (There are times where few audio codec frames are being
aggregated to one RTP packet ..) - which means that the sentence should
contain the word "RTP" before the word "packet"? , Or perhaps its up to
the implementer to decide?

Since there's no defined packet interval, this would indeed be whatever the sender is using for audio. (This is primarily to avoid getting in trouble with various resource reservation mechanisms.)

I seem to remember discussion about an SDP parameter, but can't seem to find the reference right now.

Please advise.

Thanks,
