Dear AVT Group Members, I would like to update the AVT group of the status of VMR-WB standard in 3GPP2 and TIA. The VMR-WB specification has been approved by 3GPP2 and TIA for publication as 3GPP2 C.S0052-0 v1.0 and TIA-1016, respectively in June 2004. The VMR-WB software can be obtained through these organizations and Nokia as early as August 1, 2004. VMR-WB has been currently specified by 3GPP2 as the default wideband codec for cdma2000 multimedia streaming services, conversational voice services (cdma2000 Service Option 62), and has been further proposed as the default wideband codec for cdma2000 multimedia messaging services. Attached please find the revised/updated RTP payload and file storage formats for the variable-rate multimode wideband (VMR-WB) speech codec <draft-ietf-avt-rtp-vmr-wb-01.txt>. I have made the following changes/updates in version -00: 1- Internet Draft version# has been updated. 2- Submission and expiration dates have been updated. 3- Tables 1, 2, and 3 have been updated/completed. 4- A new MIME parameter "mode-set" and the associated description has been added in Section 10.1. 5- Minor editorial changes in Sections 3 and 6.3.3 have been made for more clarification.
