[AVT] RTP MIDI I-Ds -- Summary for San Diego

Hi everyone,

This is the pre-San-Diego summary posting
for the RTP MIDI I-D's:

draft-ietf-avt-rtp-midi-format-05.txt
draft-ietf-avt-rtp-midi-guidelines-05.txt

available for download here:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-avt-rtp-midi-format -05.txt
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-avt-rtp-midi-guidelines -05.txt

Since Seoul, there have been 4 updates to
these documents. -02.txt and -03.txt added minor
changes requested by implementors, and was the
first attempt at adding "Offer/Answer Guidelines"
as requested by Magnus and Colin for all payload
formats on AVT shortly after (before?) Seoul.

-04.txt was the "Candidate Last Call"
version. Colin reviewed format-04.txt, and
posted a list of requested changes.

-05.txt attempts to comply with Colin's
requested changes. See the long Change Logs
in -05.txt for point-by-point responses to Colin's
requests, which point to changes in the documents.

Along with change requests, Colin also
requested an independent review by a MIDI expert.
Dominique Fober of GRAME has agreed to review the
documents, and is planning on posting them to AVT
some time in August.

After that review is complete, and any
requested changes added into a -06.txt series,
we may be ready for Last Call ...

In the meanwhile, I'd encourage AVTers
to look at the -05.txt documents. In particular,
Offer/Answer experts are requested to review
Appendix C.6, which provides interoperability
advice for what we're envisioning the RTP MIDI
product space becoming. Thanks in advance!
