Google for "longest street name" yields something like 
http://www.tolc.org/gintas.htm (Rancho de los Penasquitos Boulevard).

Rather than search the world for long names, another suggestion: just 
hash the city/street name and store the (MD5) hash, at a fixed length of 
32 hex characters. This avoids the potential problems with truncation or 
abbreviation.
