The update sequence described by Manav is the following:

Ah, I missed the unfeasible's in my quoting somehow.

UPDATE: feasible nlri X, next_hop N1, <other attributes>

This would implicitely withdraw all previously advertised paths for the NLRI (as it does for BGP today). And announces (X,N1).

RIB under X:

	N1: <attributes>

UPDATE: feasible nlri X, multiple_hop N2, <other attributes>

This adds the path of (X,N2). (No 'traditional' next-hop, no implicit withdraw).

RIB under X:

	N1: .....
	N2: .....

UPDATE: unfeasible nlri X, multiple_hop N1
UPDATE: unfeasible nlri X, multiple_hop N2

Explicit withdraw of (X,N1) and (X,N2)

UPDATE: feasible nlri X, multiple_hop N11, <other attributes>
UPDATE: feasible nlri X, multiple_hop N12, <other attributes>

Advertisements of (X,N11) and (X,N12).

There is no particular ordering requirement between the withdrawals of (X,N1) and (X,N2), and the advertisement of (X,N11) and (X,N12).

Additionally, advertisements of paths for an NLRI whose attributes are all the same, next-hop excepted, can be sent together in the same UPDATE (as an opportunistic optimisation, same as with different NLRIs but same attrs).

You seem to be talking about a different approach. Could you detail the sequence of updates?

See above. :)
