John: Ooops! thanks for pointing out my reference to the "research community" I did not mean to imply by that researchers working on networking problems, I meant to imply NREN users, who of course need not be researchers, I stand corrected on that respect (NREN user community is not the research community). However, my point is still the same, the user community of the very large internet of the future will be best served if the IETF comes up with a routing standard based on engineering considerations........we already have many standards yet to be implemented and tested. JJ
