I always have believed in the "If it ain't broke then don't fix it" policy. Is something "broke"? I would hate for us to develop a policy merely because we don't have one. If someone is complaining about the types of mail on this list, that's different and I would hope that the complainant is joining in the discussion. If we are doing "research" into mailing list policies, I would hope that anything we do would be offered to the community at large as a prototype mail list policy. I am not sure that we need a policy for this list. I have not seen any mail on the list that I find offensive nor bothersome in any way. True, there were some complaints before the Pittsburgh IETF when the discussion digressed into which city has the worst traffic/potholes/etc, however that issue seems to have been settled (the appropriateness of the discussion, not the size of the potholes :-) more or less to everyones public satisfaction.
