What I was asking was: do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

What I suggested that you might include in the email (and I can tell you
that I have received a variety of responses :^) was, given that you agree
with the statement, specifically what you feel should be done about it.

I can tell you that the mail I have received so far is diverse. Far more
people agree than disagree with the statement; some who disagree have gone
so far as to identify other individuals that they feel the statement better
applies to. Many who agree give no advice on the next action, and of those
who give advice, opinions range from

"Allowing Flem to post to a large list focused on a critical work
product such as the IETF is the equivalent of saying the 1st Amendment
protects the right to throw a Molotov cocktail in a crowded theater. "

to

"I am reluctantly in favor of removing Mr. Fleming's posting privileges
from the IETF list, and from any WG group's list for which the chair
    rules him out-of-order."

to

"I prefer informal ostracism, rather than formal removal."

and I would say that there is no clear consensus so far - and in the
absence of a clear consensus otherwise, I will stay the present course
(with respect to the IETF list) of suggesting that people be conservative
in what they send and liberal in what they filter.
