RE: End to End QoS across the Internet



When I said inherent QoS features of ATM, I meant technically. Why it has
not yet been exploited has a lot to do with commercial and business issues
which of course results from the extensive presence of IP. I think, DS/TOS
is not really QoS and the closest to IP QoS is RSVP.

IMO,this could be b'coz ; (correct me if I am wrong )

1) QoS across internet service Providers (i.e Ethernet,
gigaethernet, ATM etc). has not been standardised on. Would the
current DS/TOS efforts solve this problem ?
2) If QoS is used within the same network topology ( i.e ATM) a
robust
implemenation can exist. (e.g the vBNS testbed).
