I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-ftpext-feat-03.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories. This draft is a work item of the Extensions to FTP
Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Feature negotiation mechanism for the File
			  Transfer Protocol
	Author(s)	: P. Hethmon, R. Elz
	Filename	: draft-ietf-ftpext-feat-03.txt
	Pages : 8
	Date : 17-Jul-98

The File Transfer Protocol is, from time to time, extended with new
commands, or facilities. Implementations of the FTP protocol cannot be
assumed to all immediately implement all newly defined mechanisms. This
document provides a mechanism by which clients of the FTP protocol can
discover which new features are supported by a particular FTP server.

Minor changes to conform more closely with the final version of the
ABNF specification have been made in this version. There have been a
few minor editorial cleanups, and a copyright disclaimer added. There
are no changes of substance in this version. This paragraph will be
deleted in the final version of this document.

Send a message to:	mailserv at ietf.org. In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ftpext-feat-03.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
