Fred; > I don't think I used the word "censor". Every email list has a topic, and > the topic of the mailing list of the Internet Engineering Task Force is > things that pertain to the engineering of the Internet. Really? According to the IETF home page, the IETF ML is for general discussion. It says: The IETF discussion list is open, and therefore has a wide range of topics. However, be advised that employment opportunities and advertsing fall well outside the range of acceptable topics. It is an irony that I was told by some that technical discussion should be performed in MLs of individual WGs, even though the topic (multicast architecture) was related to several WGs and areas. So, I'm glad to know that you think engineering discussion is welcome on the IETF ML. Moreover, I don't mind if the scope of the IETF ML is narrowed, as long as there is some ML to discuss the operation of IETF itself. But, until that time, it is difficult to say some non-advertising topics are inappropriate. Finally, I think IPv6 issues can better be discussed in individual WGs. Masataka Ohta
