Support for cooperative work (Was: Alternative formats for IDs

Support is not in the format (what we discuss here) but in the
tools. There are a lot of tools for cooperative work with text /
ASCII, text / UTF-8 or XML files (CVS, xmldiff, diff, Subversion,
darcs, Trac, etc).
