Given that most VPN's generally work if the client is NAT'ed (which is
often the case when accessing the network from an airport or hotel
wireless network), would they not necessarily work if there was a
NAT64 or NAT+PT box made available on the IETF network?  

And wouldn't that solve the problem for engineers who need to access
IPv4-only servers (of whatever kind; CVS, SVN, IMAP, http, etc.) that
are behind a VPN?  If not, why not?  And are people trying to figure
out a solution to that problem?  After all, that's a critical piece of
any IPv4/IPv6 transition program....
