else is said, a contributor has automatic rights to use whatever works
can be defined as derivative works from his original contribution - but
that's what your words seem to say (IANAL, of course).
Can you double-check with your counsel that this is indeed what he/she
intended to say?
If this is true, the language can indeed be simplified.
