I agree with Erik and Hesham that loop preventation
is something that we may wish to have. A couple of
comments on what Pekka wrote about detection:
I think it would be possible to detect loops if we wanted really hard
to do that. That might just lead to reinvention of the spanning tree
protocol, though.
This is a danger, yes.
For example, the ND proxy could send in ND solicitation for its own IP
address. If it hears back that solicitation on some other interface,
it can conclude that someone is looping those packets and it should
e.g. shut down completely.
Right. Or add an ND option to a proxied query, and detect when you
receive an option which you inserted by yourself.
