Hello 6man,

See below for a new draft on "Simple Packetization and
Reassembly for IP/*/IP Tunnel Endpoint MTUs (sprite-mtu)".
This document specifies mechanisms that update existing
mechanisms to address well-known MTU issues for IP/*/IP
tunnels (see: [RFC2923][RFC4459][RFC4963]).

There have been many previous attempts to address the
tunnel MTU issue - most of which involve complex and/or
cumbersome mechanisms in the network. This specification
takes a minimalist approach and seeks to achieve a proper
balance between function in the network and function in
the end system, per [RFC1958].

The nominal Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of the Internet has
become 1500 bytes, but existing IP/*/IP tunneling mechanisms impose
an encapsulation overhead that can reduce the effective path MTU to
smaller values.  Additionally, existing tunneling mechanisms are
limited in their ability to support larger MTUs.  This document
specifies simple packetization and reassembly for IP/*/IP tunnel
endpoint MTUs (sprite-mtu).
