I think I get it now.  An example would be nice.

Also, we've talked about an acceptor-side extension that deals with
multiple credentials properly, and you've convinced me that that's a
good idea.  I just hadn't yet considered the utility of the same sort
of extension for the initiator side, nor have I yet thought through
it.
