I agree completely. Entirely too much of the past several years' of work
seems to be focused on undoing the earliest design decisions of IMAP,
while pretending that the real world considerations that led to those
design decisions are unimportant.
Successful efforts work within the framework that exists. Unsuccessful
efforts attempt to glom a different and totally incompatible framework on
top of the existing framework.
