The capacity is not so large as it looks. Every 4-letter code has a
corresponding 3-digit code, so the absolute limit is 1000 scripts, and
the first digit of the numeric code encodes the type of script
according to the following table:
0 - hieroglyphic/cuneiform
1 - RTL alphabets/abjads
2 - LTR alphabets/abjads
3 - abugidas
4 - syllabaries
5 - morphosyllabaries
6 - undeciphered
9 - private use, alias, special
