In ISO, liaisons to other bodies are created at the TC or SC level, never at the WG level. Also, it is really the SC that owns the 639 projects. So, it probably makes sense that a liaison would be to SC2. But since it would be coming from the IETF side, I guess it's up to people on this side to decide what group they want to relate to. I think that is an excellent idea... Now where have I heard it before? ;-) One slight correction it is TC37/SC2/WG1 and this WG deals with the ISO 639 family as a whole not just 639-3.
