I am perfectly fine with that idea, and perfectly not fine with the 
similar-sounding but quite different idea that 'zh' is most often *used 
to mean* Mandarin.

In the flood of messages on this topic, I can't find the statement in 
the archives that 'cmn' should be deprecated.  I hope to heaven that is 
a misquote.
