We have a long-standing rule of reason that says no two subtags mean
the same thing unless at least one of them is deprecated. I'd be
reluctant to break that for the sake of supposed processing advantages,
since part of the Tao of the Internet is that the publisher never quite
knows how the reader will use the published text (or metadata).
