That's why I said "evidence-based". To add a little more evidence from
Yahoo (Google's hit-count algorithm is known to be unreliable for large
numbers), "diffent from" gets 279 Mhits, "different than" gets 100 Mhits,
and "different to" gets 49 Mhits. This is of course distorted by the
historical and continuing dominance of the U.S. on the Web.
