[manet] Issue in D-MAC
I hope some of the researchers in this gorup are aware of the D-MAC, "An Adaptive Energy-Efficient and Low-Latency MAC for Data Gathering in Sensor Networks". I want to discuss one issue of D-MAC here.
Particularly D-MAC assumes that the Data gathering tree remains stable for a reasonable length of time. As the sensors have limited energy resource, the nodes which are near the sink drops in their energy levels quickly. If the routing algorithm is energy aware, it can dynamically change the paths and as a result the data gathering tree may not be stable at some parts of the tree which can degrade the performance of D-MAC. Let me know if you agree with this reasoning.
Also to the best of my knowledge there is no publication which introduces priority in sleep/wak-up based MAC protocols for wireless sensor networks. If you came across any such publication let me know.
Looking forward for your comments,
Praveen.
