Many of the folks who use ARF today use "ESP" to describe companies which 
send bulk email on behalf of other companies.  That's an email service, but 
I don't think it's the email service you're talking about.  There are a lot 
of other email services, too.

I'm partial to the term "mailbox provider," but that's still relatively new.
