...and some of what is "obvious to many" may actually be wrong or 
misdirected.  There's a big difference between developing a product and 
developing an Internet standard.  One important difference is that 
Internet standards have to function at Internet scale - i.e. what would 
happen if everyone on the Internet used this however they wanted? 
That's why a handpicked panel of "experts" isn't fit to develop 
requirements in isolation - there are no "experts" at doing this on an 
Internet scale.  It needs to be rethought from first principles.
