RE: [PWE3] Inter-op is not necessary
I would like to see some discussion on the following questions raised
for MS-RVP:
- Addressing
- Scalability
- Inter-operability with FEC128
For now, my votes are as follows:
Q1. Are you in favor of moving MS-LDP forward as WG draft?
YES
Q2. Are you against moving MS-LDP forward?
NO
Q3. Are you in favor of moving MS-RSVP forward as WG draft?
ABSTAIN
Q4. Are you against moving MS-RSVP forward?
ABSTAIN
Q5. Are you in favor of a single solution?
YES
Thanks,
yetik

Stewart,
I've yet to see any indication on this mailing list that
anyone disagrees with what Ray said. In fact, it is so obvious
a statement that many have simply not bothered to repeat it.
Of course backward compatibility and - at least potential
- migration mechanisms/strategies are required. It is that sad
consideration that makes avoidance of a two-protocol solution
difficult.
MS-PW needs to be backward compatible with SS-PW. MS-TE
also needs to be backward compatible with SS-TE. Compatibility
for SS-PW and MS-PW seems to argue for compatible extensions to
LDP. Compatibility for SS-TE and MS-TE (or TE and PCE) likewise
argues for compatible extensions to RSVP-TE. So eventually we
either end up with backward compatibility complexity or a two-
protocol solution.
