I meant given that now we have two solutions addressing

the status problem from a different angle, and clearly there

are issues/areas of discussions in both proposals.

 

My suggestion is instead of selecting and incorporating one

solution in the pw control draft, and then debating in the

mailing list whether we agree on the problem

and how are we solving it, why not first take these two proposals,

work out a new draft (separate from the current control draft),

state the problem, address the requirements and then describe a

solution that meets these requirements taking into account

items in both proposals.

 

If at the end of the day we end up with exactly Luca/Toby's or

Himanshu's proposal or something in between that is fine but at least

the wg will have the confidence the proposal actually satisfies the

requirements, and addresses most of the issues raised (and

the whole wg will be winning at the end...).

Well, they're really two alternative ways to extend LDP to convey the same 

information.  The only way to really merge them would be to support them both ....
