[Raven] Wiretapping - a slipery slope
While I think it is important to think about how one might go about
implementing tracing a call over the Internet (for the opportunities it
might afford), it is another thing to actually support it in a design. Given
the Internet spans just about every country in the World I can imagine that
each of them might want something "special" added. How would we, as the IETF
decide which to implement? Should we only support the "biggest" countries
like the U.S., Russia, or maybe the countries that have the biggest online
population or ...? If we support this stupid U.S. law (and I am a U.S.
citizen) then we are opening ourselves up to just this sort of thing. If we
do add in this feature, I believe that we are looking at the actual demise
of the IETF to be nothing more than the ISO organization!
