OK, I understand your point and the IP ID is really a troublesome field from a
HC point of view because it is in many cases "useless". However, it is there and
to not violate the integrity of the packet, it must be transparently transmitted
over the link. Above, you made a simplification by talking about voice frames
that you can not do. A packet is a packet and its integrity must be preserved no
matter what is carried in it.
