draft-ietf-rohc-over-ppp-01.txt

Dear I-D editor,

please publish the draft-ietf-rohc-over-ppp-01.txt that you can find at

	http://www.dmn.tzi.org/ietf/rohc/draft-ietf-rohc-over-ppp-01.txt

This is a product of the ROHC working group.

Thanks,

Carsten

PS.: PPPEXTers:
I need your help on the issue of when to reinitialize the ROHC channel that
is being shared by IPCP and IPV6CP.
Can you find out whether a pair of NCPs was taken down at the same time?
Right now, the text is saying:

In particular, this means that taking down either of the NCPs while
the other is still open means that the contexts of the channel stay
active. [[ The following needs some more discussion. ]] To avoid
race conditions, the same is true if both NCPs are taken down and
then one or more is reopened. Taking down LCP destroys the channel,
however; reopening LCP and then one or more of IPCP and IPV6CP
restarts ROHC with all contexts in no-context state.

(talking about IPCP and IPV6CP as the two NCPs). I'm not sure that's right,
either.
I'm not even sure I know when a bundle is finally completely taken down (a
new link on the same bundle might come up and create a race).
With ROHC at PS stage now, getting this right is becoming urgent.

Please educate (on both substance and the right language to use here)...
