Greetings again. A few times on this list, people have spoken of the need to replace passwords with an unstated assumption that if we just work hard enough, we'll have a good solution. Another unstated assumption is that we know how to measure what a good replacement is. A recent excellent academic paper, referenced at <http://www.lightbluetouchpaper.org/2012/05/22/the-quest-to-replace-passwords/>, may make us (well, the less single-minded among us) a tad less confident in both of those assumptions. This work is certainly relevant in a few IETF WGs as well as SAAG in general.
