I'd like to cross message boundaries with erasure for email so I could 
backspace over this whole thread of conversation, but it isn't 
happening. Stop and think about it for a minute and you'll realize why 
-- we're talking about a one to many store and forward architecture, 
where many participants have a record-everything regulatory regime.

We've already defined a one-to-one real time text protocol with erasing. 
It's called "ntalk", and it's in pretty much every unix implementation 
out there and has been for years. People seem to have given up on taking 
it any further because of the limitations of trying to do n-way 
conferencing witout message boundaries.
