[Simple] Continuous values in presence draft
Hi all,
I've submitted a draft that describes special considerations that apply to continuous-valued data in presence. The primary goal of this document is to address the constraints imposed by location information. Location has the inauspicious privilege of being (one of?) the first non-discrete-valued data types to be used in presence.
There's been some debate about whether location fits presence, or whether it requires its own event package. This draft attempts to define what about presence doesn't work for location (and perhaps how a presence-like location event package should look).
The draft might be polarising on some issues, and I'm not entirely happy with its structure, but I believe that there are important concerns that need to be addressed. The outcome of discussions on this topic are critical to how GEOPRIV progresses with location and presence. If nothing more comes of this than a well-considered rejection of this document, then at least GEOPRIV can continue. I'd encourage people to read this document and try to understand the problem, in preparation for a discussion.
