[Sip] Informal SIP identity discussions
Attached find the rough notes of the last conference call of interested parties on the identity issue.
John will be issuing a -02 version of draft-elwell-sip-e2e-identity-important which will represent the current work in progress in defining the issue.
regards
Keith

Subject: notes
began at 7:40am pacific time
* Keith proposes page-by-page review of John Elwell's draft, draft-elwell-sip-e2e-identity-important-01A.txt, which he emailed on January 12.
(note draft -01A has not been formally issued)
* Dan York asks if we will develop a problem statement. Keith said John's draft will become the problem statement.
* Hannes begins discussing the document overall, and is worried the banking scenario has excessive security requirements and we should concentrate on a different scenario with lower security needs.
- conclusion: we need to include SIP certficates as a
mechanism to provide identity
- include return routability check
beginning document review at 8am PT:
Section 1. We need to better describe 'end to end', and terminology section. Describe how to identify the user using media.
Section 2.7, Q: should we discuss problems with converting tel URI to SIP URI. John suggests that the E.164 problem statement draft goes into that detail and we didn't want to repeat it here.
Action: John to put out call for input to the requirements section to the interested parties.
Action: John to put out -02 version of draft and solicit comments from the wider SIP community.
