[Sipping] RE: ToIP Requirements Draft

Radhika,

You are confused.

<<Frank said: The framework deals with the mobility of the User Agents. Perhaps the title of section 6.9's misleading, but "ToIP User Agents SHOULD use the same mechanisms as other SIP User Agents to resolve mobility
issues." is clearly about terminal devices.>>

To which you replied:

<<[RRR] I appreciate your suoperior observation. You are right. If we translate the entire document in the SIP layer like SIP UA, we could write the entire framework document only from the SIP application layer point of view.>>

If you agree with that statement as you do here, it's pointless to then go on and contradict yourself elsewhere by trying to reintroduce parallel mechanisms for interworking or transcoding OUTSIDE the SIP application layer.

Mobility for ToIP users is implicitly dealt with through "normal" SIP functionality. The framework draft DOES NOT introduce a separate mobility scheme. The same goes for transcoding and all the rest.

Again: if any of those aspects, like transcoding, are in your opinion missing something of relevance to support text as media, then the right place to address that is in the corresponding draft (in this example thus the transcoding draft). It DOES NOT belong as a separate entity in the ToIP framework as presented here.

Regards,

Guido
