It does has an effect in some browsers (such as Seamonkey I think), and 
will also have an effect in Firefox with the right extension installed 
(see 
<http://greenbytes.de/tech/webdav/rfc2629xslt/rfc2629xslt.html#html.link>). 
I'm using this to add back/forward links to the HTML versions of my IDs.
